Blackdog Blue
About Us

Despite having a reputable band from Vancouver, it was Blackdog Blue that came out and dominated in both energy and performance.  As promised, you put on an amazing show.  Blackdog Blue will definitely be headlining ‘Hot Night In the City’ again next year.”  Kim Stanley, Hot Night in the City Entertainment Coordinator
Whether you're looking for a band to pack the dance floor of your club or event, or one to entertain the masses at your festival, you need to look no further than Blackdog Blue. In four short years, Blackdog Blue has established itself as a high energy, high quality five-piece band that masterfully mixes upbeat blues and classic rock with infectious originals. In addition to being a regular at the Blue Grotto in Kamloops, the band has entertained crowds at a wide range of venues including, “The Great Canadian Music Festival”, Music in the Park (Kamloops), and a number of private functions.

Since the successful release of its first studio album, “Slide”, in June, 2006, and the band’s second studio album, ‘”Staring at the Sun” (2008), Blackdog Blue has seen radio play across Canada and in Europe; all the while establishing a strong, dedicated, local following.

What makes Blackdog Blue unique is a combination of great talents coming together with a common musical outlook and goal. Renea Denis, the lead singer, brings a voice and a styling that many have described as soulful and amazing.Guitar player and songwriter, Dennis Hayes, pours his love of both contemporary and classic rock, and Texas blues into every song and every performance.  Uli Scheck, with his 25 years of experience as a keyboard player and vocalist in both Canada and Europe, is as talented as he is versatile. Corey Yamaoka (famous for his “Yamaoka shuffle”) and his funky bass lines compliment the solid drumming of uniquely clad Darrell Hanna (not the actress). And if you don’t want to take our word for it, check out the quotes from those in the know.

"Blackdog Blue is one of the most

entertaining acts...."    Brant Zwicker, 92.5 FM Station Manager

"
Staring At The Sun", is guaranteed to please all whom are fortunate enough to listen to it. A superb finely polished CD that will leave you only wanting more.  If I could give a higher rating then 5***** out of 5***** I would.  Review by John Vernilyea (Blues Underground Network)
